About the Artist
The story begins in a quiet church pew. A young boy, barely old enough to sit still, was handed a scrap of paper and a pen by his grandmother. It was meant to keep him quiet—but it did far more than that. In his small hands, those simple tools became a gateway to a lifelong pursuit of creativity.
At home, his mother recognized something special. She saw how he would lose himself in his drawings—how his imagination gave shape to characters, places, and ideas—and she made sure that gift had room to grow. She enrolled him in classes, encouraged him to take part in community art events, and supported him even when others didn’t. His father, though hardworking and practical, didn’t see art as a “real” future. But that quiet resistance only deepened the drive to succeed—through creativity, and on his own terms.
By the time he reached high school, that creative spark had matured into something more focused. He enrolled in a technical program that offered Commercial Art courses, and it was there, under the guidance of Mr. Lee Conner, that everything began to align. Mr. Conner wasn’t just a teacher—he was a mentor who introduced him to the power of concept development, composition, and the relationship between text and image. For the first time, art wasn’t just expression—it was communication, and it had purpose.
College followed at Chattanooga State Technical Community College, where the journey continued under the mentorship of Allan Wallace and Jeff Morris. These professors challenged him in all the right ways, pushing him to refine his skills and rethink what was possible through design. What had once felt like raw talent was now being shaped into professional ability.
But like many creatives, the road wasn’t easy. Rejection and instability were part of the journey. There were days spent driving around town dressed in business casual, with a portfolio and resume in hand, using the Yellow Pages to cold-call businesses and offer design services—one door at a time.
Then came the unexpected break. After a long day of self-promotion, he stopped by his sister’s house to rest. While he happened to be there, her phone rang. It was a church member who knew her but didn’t have his contact information. She mentioned that a nearby company was looking to hire an Art Director—and had heard that her brother was a designer.
The company was just five minutes away. Within the hour, he was sitting in a job interview he was completely prepared for. Portfolio in hand, resume ready, he stepped into the opportunity fully equipped—and walked out with a job offer. Hired on the spot. What began as a casual visit turned into a career-defining moment.
That chance moment launched the next chapter—as Art Director at Pioneer Mat, where he spent nearly a decade leading design projects, managing creative direction, and learning the business side of production. All the while, he continued freelance work, always staying connected to the deeper creative passion that had carried him since childhood.
It was through this freelance work that he met Mrs. Dene Rosenthal, a client whose influence extended well beyond design. She offered mentorship, business advice, and personal encouragement—pushing him to rediscover his passion and invest in his growth. Her guidance inspired him to return to school, where he earned a degree in Graphic Design, adding technical mastery to his already well-formed creative intuition.
Today, that foundation has become a thriving creative practice. Years of experience in branding, illustration, and graphic design have shaped a career built on passion, persistence, and people. Every client, every project, is a continuation of the story that started with a pen and a scrap of paper.
Though his father has since passed, he lived to see what became of the path once doubted. He saw that art, when done with integrity and commitment, is work—and it can build a life.
This journey, shaped by mentors like Mr. Lee Conner, Jeff Morris, Allan Wallace, and Dene Rosenthal, continues to unfold with each collaboration, each challenge, and each opportunity to help others bring their vision to life.

My Graphic Design Process: Strategy-Driven, Results-Focused
As a professional graphic designer, my approach is rooted in strategic thinking, creative problem-solving, and effective visual communication. Design isn’t just about making things look attractive — it’s about achieving real results for businesses and brands through smart, intentional design.
1. Discovery & Client Consultation
Every project begins with a clear understanding of your business goals. I take time to learn about your brand, audience, and vision. Whether you need a logo, branding package, print collateral, or digital design, I focus on the bigger picture — what will drive results and connect with your target market.
2. Industry Research & Competitor Analysis
Next, I conduct research to understand your industry landscape. I study market trends, audience behavior, and successful competitor strategies. This allows me to build designs that are not only visually compelling but also relevant, competitive, and on-brand.
3. Strategic Planning & Creative Direction
Using insights from research, I map out a design strategy that supports your marketing goals. I apply principles of typography, layout, color theory, and brand psychology to make sure every visual element works together to captivate and convert.
4. Design Execution & Development
This is where ideas take shape. I craft creative concepts, refine visual elements, and ensure your design is optimized for its intended use — whether it’s for print, packaging, web, or social media. Each design is tailored for clarity, impact, and user engagement.
